Description
If you are in need of a good cup of coffee and a friendly face, head north to Fernando’s Kaffé. Known for his excellent coffee and the welcoming atmosphere, it is worth the short walk, which is really just a few blocks north of Central Park. It makes for the perfect stop after touring La Merced church. As Fernando says, “once the customer tries my coffee, they always return.” The café opened five years ago when Fernando realized that foreigners come to Guatemala thinking of good Guatemalan coffee, and are often disappointed to find an abundance of Nescafe. His venture has been quite successful as the café is always a buzz with travelers and ex-pats. The café is bright and intimate and opens up into a small courtyard where you can dine as well. In addition to coffee, which ranges from Q7 to Q15, they serve natural juices, homemade ice cream, both Q10, sandwiches and excellent desserts. The breakfast crepes, Q25, are a good choice as well.
