Description
El Sereno is special for two reasons: its outstanding view of Antigua from the terrace and ´the cava´, a candle-lit romantic private dining room that is truly a best kept secret. Housed in a unique 16th century home, El Sereno has an elegant colonial feel to it. They serve an international cuisine with prices in the Q130 range. The food is a tad overpriced and somewhat unremarkable, so if you aren’t out for an expensive, romantic meal, pass up the dining area - but be sure to take a peek of the Cava to ascend the candle-lit steps to the upstairs terrace. One of the highest roof-top restaurant views in Antigua, it is popular at sunset for coffee or drinks. Sitting below an arbor of greenery and twinkling lights, it is the ideal place to wind down the day and even catch a glimpse of an eruption from Fuego volcano. They have a full drink menu ranging from Q30-Q50 and the sangria is excellent.
Insider Tips
Be sure to bring a jacket as it can get chilly atop the terrace. Make reservations well ahead of time for the cava.
