Description
This beautifully designed colonial house, built in 1549, fronts onto the main square. It was once part of the Royal Houses and was occupied by several Counts. Rumour has it that one Count buried his butler alive when he came home to find his wife having an affair with him. The rumour proved valid, however, after the 1976 earthquake when a skeleton was found standing up within the pantry wall. Fear not as the building was exorcized in 1992 prior to the opening of Condesa. Today it houses one of Antigua's most popular brunch / lunch spots within its pretty courtyard hidden behind the bookshop. Sandwiches are served on their home baked breads while the salads have been washed in potable water. The real specialty is breakfast, which is served all day. (Q27 - 42). On Sundays there is a brunch buffet from 10:00am - 1:30pm (Q58).
Insider Tips
Be sure to leave room for some of their delicious home-baked treats - the Tres Leches (three milks) Cake is to die for.
