Description
Barrocas is owned and run by Carolina Palomo, a true Antigueño. She spent many years living abroad in France and the US and has brought her experiences back with her to Antigua where she decided to open a restaurant featuring International cuisine. The concept behind Barrocas is that it is a creative space—it has an art gallery as well as a Spanish bookstore inside-- and a place for good food with a relaxed atmosphere. It is a good option priced in between the expensive upscale restaurants and the cheaper backpacker’s choices. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money and still have a nice meal, this is a great option. The menu includes sushi and spring rolls as appetizers (Q 33 and Q 26), great pizzas (Q 46 for two people), curry (Q 42) and the most expensive item is the Salmon (Q 68). Portions are adequate but on the small side.
Insider Tips
Every Saturday night there is live music of all types—Spanish, Troba, Cuban,-- it just depends on who is in town. It can get pretty crowded when the music is good and provides a vibrant background for Guatemalans of all ages.
