Posada del Angel

Guatemala > Antigua > Hotels > Posada del Angel

Description
For some homes in Antigua the front entrance tells it all: large intricate doors laden with metal decoration, boasting to the world of the splendor that lies within. Posada Del Angel is not as telling. In fact, if not for the small sign in front, one might completely pass up it up, mistaking its antiqued aqua door as just another timeworn residence. On the contrary, this five-star inn easily rivals any hotel in town and is truly in a class of its own. Built in the style of a colonial country inn, it has the home away from home feel while maintaining complete elegance and privacy for guests. It is described by owner Mary Sue Gibson Morris as “...comfortable, beautiful, elegant, and above all: FUN!!!!." Mary Sue, who hails from Texas, is a seasoned world-traveler and also owns Joyeria del Angel, one of the top jewelry stores in town. Her tasteful touches can be found throughout the hotel amongst the fine antiques, fresh flowers and local textiles. Beyond the suites there are plenty of other nooks and crannies to pass the day – lounge in the outdoor living room, take a dip in the lap pool or relax in the salon with a game of cards or a good book from their library.

Insider Tips
The Rose Suite was made famous as President Clinton's choice of accommodations when he visited Guatemala in 1999.

The Rose Suite is the most desirable room, featuring its own private terrace. The other four suites are less private on the first floor but just as lovely as the Rose Suite. In the Blue, Yellow, and Bird Rooms you can choose between two twin beds or a King-size. The Green Room has a queen size bed.

Food
A continental breakfast is provided daily and served in the chapel dining room. The menu varies daily between pancakes, french toast, omelettes and various other breakfast dishes. Seasonal fresh fruit and cereal are also served.
