Description
Tucked into a quiet neighborhood behind the central marketplace is this lovely, serene house that exudes the feeling of relaxation from the minute you enter the front courtyard. This B&B was opened in April 2005 to fill a resident spa niche that remains yet to be developed in this town. This is no Four Seasons Spa; however it is a small, personal setting where you can kick back and relax in the lovely garden while listening to the pleasantly calming background music. Spa services such as therapeutic massage, pedicures, manicures and facials are available here, as well as a relaxing steam bath and jacuzzi (steam bath and jacuzzi included in price, all other services extra). There is wireless Internet here for those who can't handle too much de-stressing.
Benefits
This is a nice quiet oasis on the outskirts of town, in an extremely pleasant residential neighborhood.
Staying at Casa Madelaine provides guests with a nice way to remove oneself from the typical tourist scene found in Antigua.
Rooms here are reasonably priced given the amenities provided.
Drawbacks
The neighborhood is on the outskirts of town and after dark it is advisable to take a taxi or tuk-tuk if you want to go out for dinner.
Due to the out-of-the-way location, it is a bit of a walk to the main square of Antigua.
Rooms
There are 5 rooms and one master suite that have been tastefully designed with simplistic decor and a hint of Guatemalan flavour. Each room has been uniquely decorated and comes equipped with cable TV, minibar and private bathroom with all the amenities. The beds and showers here are both decent. Some rooms have balconies with tables and chairs to sit out on.
Food
There is no restaurant here but a breakfast of seasonal fresh fruits is served in the stylish dining room at an impressive large square glass table.
Rates Doubles US$80 - 85 including taxes and breakfast.
