The tourist office should be one of your first stops upon arrival. There are two located right near the square in Pelourinho. One is on Rua de Dieu near Terreiro de Jesus, but the main one is at Rua das Laranjas 12. Both have extremely helpful, English speaking staff who can provide you with information on a schedule of events as well as bus and ferry information. Pick up a booklet called 'Bahia Cultural' which is printed monthly and provides a daily schedule of entertainment and events - unfortunately it is in Portuguese only. They also have free maps which should be adequate to help you navigate the town.
