Description
Village Novo is a basic hotel with a stylish feel. You enter the hotel through the bakery/internet café and a common sitting room with velvet couches and chairs. Foreigners chatting and having coffee at the café give the place a lively feeling. Housed in a 125-year-old mansion, the 11 rooms at Village Novo are off along narrow, high-ceilinged hallways and outdoor walkways. The place is clean and the décor is industrial-chic with some artsy touches like interesting tiles and stained-glass windows. The wooden beds sport spring mattresses and cotton sheets. The front rooms (facing the street) have a view of Barra Beach and the fort at Porto da Barra. The owner and one of the staff speak English. The hotel is located nearly an hour from the Salvador airport and about 15 minutes by bus or taxi to Praça da Sé.

The hotel’s internet café has 14 computers (R$3/hour).
