Description
This restored 19th century mansion, originally built for the governor of Bahia State, is a gem of a guest-house with its wood floors and high ceilings. Tucked just a block away from Barra Beach, on a quiet street, it is close to many good bars and restaurants. A comfortable sunny living room and an airy dining room are on the ground floor while the rooms are reached by climbing a polished wood staircase.
There is a large TV in the lobby/living room.
Insider Tips
Manga Rosa is a 10-minute walk from Shopping Barra Mall and nearby bars and restaurants.
Try the home-cooked Austrian food (that’s right, Austrian food in Brazil!) a block away on Rua Cesar Zama (see Restaurant listings).

Rooms
All six rooms, named for flowers, have air conditioning, ceiling fan, cable tv, minibar, safe, clock-radio and bed with an orthopedic mattress imported from the U.S. The rooms are medium- to large-sized and simply decorated with wooden furniture and colorful local art. There is an armoir and table with two chairs in every room and some have a small terrace. The recently remodeled bathrooms have glass shower stalls and amenities including soap, shampoo, toothpaste, q-tips and hairdryer.

Food
Step through the archways from the living room into the high-ceiling country-style dining room where you’ll eat breakfast on sturdy wooden tables.
