Description
This hotel is an excellent option, located right across the street from the 9th lifeguard post (very popular beach spot) in Ipanema. As a Best Western hotel, it has all the amenities you might need and is bright and shiny after a complete renovation at the end of 2007. The rooftop deck (16th floor) has a sitting area, bar, a good selection of English magazines and a tiny pool. It also has an incredible view: not only can you see the ocean and an eyeful of beach, but if you stand at the very corner of the patio and look back towards the mountains, you will see Corcovado and the Cristo Redentor.
Insider Tips
The rooftop is an ideal spot to share a drink after the beach, or even to have a quiet romantic dinner with some of the best views in town. Meals can be ordered from the restaurant downstairs and will be served at the tables next to the pool.
There is a very small workout room with modern equipment (a universal machine, a treadmill and a stationary bike) and hand weights.
Two computers in the lobby are available for guests.
Benefits
- Location, location, location...
-The fitness center, albeit tiny, offers a flat screen tv as well as an expansive view of the Christ statue and the Lagoa.
- The lobby is bright and has a sleek sitting area and a café/bar.
Drawbacks
- The bathrooms are a little small and at a hotel of this caliber you might expect a full tub - but with the ocean across the street, are you really going to want to take a bath? - This hotel is listed in the Fodor’s and Lonely Planet guides, which could make arranging reservations difficult during peak travel times.
-The pool is too small to swim in.

Ocean views (in the luxo rooms) come at a premium, but if you are paying to stay across from the beach, why not splurge? The sleek, modern bathrooms are fairly small, but offer all amenities including hairdryers. Some rooms have king-sized beds, others queen and some have two single beds. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available.
