Description
This hotel has the distinction of being the only beachfront hotel in Ipanema with balconies on all of its apartments. Having recently undergone a complete renovation, the hotel is clean and fresh looking on the interior. On the rooftop is a lovely deck and small pool, as well as the 'Bossa Nova' cigar bar which has an excellent view to compliment the interesting cocktail menu. There is a big screen TV here for events or rainy days. There is a small, but decent gym with Air Conditioning. The hotel also has a business center with two Internet terminals that you have to pay to use. Despite markings indicating that Wireless access is available in several parts of the hotel, it is only available in the lobby.

Benefits
- Large and relatively new rooms right on the beach.
- All rooms have views.
- Very close to both Ipanema's and Leblon's restaurant rows.

Drawbacks
- Although you are still located on Ipanema Beach, this is the very end of the beach which is not as nice as most other parts.
- The air conditioning can be rather loud.
- Some of the rooms have very outdated bathrooms.
- Staff can be a little hot/cold depending on who you meet
- This hotel is listed in the Frommer’s and Lonely Planet guides, which could make arranging reservations difficult during peak travel times.

Rooms
The rooms are very nice, clean and spacious. All with cable TV, Internet connection, central A/C, minibar, phone, a small table and chairs, a safe and of course a balcony. Deluxe rooms have DVD players and 29" TVs and an ocean view (high floor lateral view, lower floors front view). The suites are very large with separate bedroom and living room. The bathrooms are small and a little outdated but clean with the usual amenities and hairdryers. A special touch is the bathrobes in each room. Rates: Single US$116 - 173; Doubles US$130 - 193; includes breakfast, does not include 5% city taxes.

Food
A delicious buffet breakfast includes bacon & eggs as well as Brazilian specialties such as pâo de queijo and a large assortment of fruits, yogurts, cereals etc. La Mouette Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner in the busier months. It has an impressive view of the beachfront, but is not one of Ipanema's finer options. The Bossa Nova Bar serves snacks and cocktails and is a great place for relaxing late afternoon. The view from here is amazing.

Children
Try to get a room on the higher floors for better views and privacy.
