Description
Mar Azul is centrally located in Floresta Nova, right near the school and the island’s best Acai (see our Cultural Cheatsheet). The district is only 5 minutes from Flamboyant Park and Remedios Village.
Mar Azul is simple yet cozy and is a popular hangout in late afternoons when guests lounge in the hammocks out front.

Mar Azul is well located near Morena, the island’s best Italian restaurant, Pousada Ze Maria (well known for its dinner celebrations) and the island’s Creperie
Benefits
- Well located along the main road but far enough away to avoid the noise.
- Guests can easily walk to Ibama or Remedios Village.
Drawbacks
- The dirt road leading to the pousada can be a problem as it gets either too dry and dusty or too muddy, depending on the season.
- There are no phones in the room.
Rooms
Mar Azul offers basic rooms that have been recently redecorated to reflect Pernambuco’s authentic style. All six rooms have A/C (a must-have on the island), private bathroom with hot shower (electric), box spring beds, and minibars. There are no phones in the rooms.

Food
A full breakfast is served including hot and cold items. Eggs may be served upon request. Tapioca and other regional delicacies may be served according to the availability of those items on the island.
