Description
If loud and boisterous is your thing, this is the way to go. These 'combis' (half 4x4, half camper) have been painted black, yellow and blue so as not to be missed. The staff has enough energy for the entire country, so don't think about trying to catch up on some z's after boarding at 6am because they won't let you. Another rule of the road is that the roof stays open, everyone must stand, and when a truck goes by you have to jump up and down screaming until you get a reaction. There is, however, something to be said for this type of tour. You don't risk falling asleep and missing all the beautiful scenery! Surprisingly, the tours are not filled with backpackers, but a fun and energetic crowd of all ages.

Movitrack offers several tours around the Salta region.

Tour 1: 2-day Tour
This tour continues the Nubes circuit up to Humahuaca.

Tour 2: MiniSafaris
MiniSafaris are an option for those who want a smaller group with an enclosed vehicle. It is definitely the most commercial and well-organized group of the bunch. Frank Newman started Movitrack in 1995 after spending his honeymoon in Salta. An engineer by trade, he decided people needed to be able to see the scenery with open air and be close to nature, much like a safari in Africa. With this idea in mind he developed a locomotive from a Mercedes combi that did just that.
