Argentina > Salta > Restaurants

Salteñan cuisine is distinctly known throughout the country. The Spanish influence is combined with local produce (maize, corn and potatoes) and regional meat (lamb and llama). The world-famous “empanada” originated here, but you might want to try its lesser-known sister, the “humita” (made with corn). Don’t miss “locro” (a hearty local stew). As would be expected of this Gaucho culture, parillas and meat-based menus are abundant in Salta.

The Balcarce strip has a good variety to choose from if you can't decide what you are in the mood for.
