Opened in 1912 by a Spanish immigrant, Confiteria Ideal worth checking out even if you don’t want to take a tango lesson. It is housed in a turn of the century building absolutely oozing with charm in spite of being in a severe state of disrepair. The tea room, on the first level, has a European feel, with walls covered in dark wood paneling and marble floors. From the ceiling hang elegant art deco chandeliers. It’s easy to imagine that you are on the Gran Via in Madrid.

Buenos Aires has not one, but two horse racing tracks. The elegant Hipodromo Argentino is appropriately located in Palermo (Avenida del Libertador 4101, corner of Dorrego). The Gran Premio Nacional is the biggest race of the year, held every November. The Hipodromo de San Isidro is a more family-oriented venue located outside the city in the Zona Norte.
Bombonera
Home of the infamous Boca Juniors, this concrete football stadium in La Boca is a sacred sight for many Porteños. Although each football club has its own stadium, the experience of seeing a live match at La Bombonera is an experience you won’t soon forget. Two championships are held throughout the year: the Apertura (opening) which runs from August to December and the Clausura (closing) which runs from February to July.
