El Obrero

Argentina > Buenos Aires > Restaurants > El Obrero

Description
This authentic “Cantina” in La Boca is located on a dark street but it has gained so much popularity that you don’t need to worry about safety issues. El Obrero is renowned for it’s great Parrilla as well as for the strong Spanish influence found on the menu, including mouth-watering “paellas” and “tortilla de papa” amongst other things. You can expect to spend between A$8-12 on an entree. The restaurant is owner-operated with an open kitchen and a large menu written with chalk on a rusty old blackboard. El Obrero maintains the original spirit of this immigrant neighbourhood; very laid back, genuine, friendly, noisy and packed with locals speaking about the latest soccer match or discussing politics.

Insider Tips
Despite its reputation as a ‘local’s favorite’, celebrities as diverse as Bono, the King of Spain, and Philippe Starck have become declared fanatics of this Cantina during their visits to Buenos Aires.
