Description
El Codo de Oro is a traditional pizzeria on the corner of Parque Patricios. The restaurant, owned by the Castro family, opened 30 years ago. It is famous for its exquisite brick oven pizzas. Complimenting the oven, the surrounding room is covered in wood, from the countertops to the refrigerators, creating a picturesque setting. Neon lights emphasize the walls that are covered with strings of garlic, Chianti bottles and old, worn photos. The entire El Codo de Oro experience is delicious - as soon as you bite into the pizza, the golden baked onions blend with the cheese, creating an indescribable taste. The dough is prepared in two ways, plain or with onion, and the pizza can be ordered Calabrian-style or with four cheeses. The secret to El Codo de Oro's success is in the quality of the ingredients (they will use only the best olive oil), the delicate preparation (they crush the tomatoes to enhance the sauce), and the wood burning brick kiln on sight. The personnel is very experienced having worked many years in the trade.
Insider Tips
Very good empanadas and stuffed fugazzeta can be had here, but the best introduction to this restaurant is the pizza.
