Gran Hotel Hispano

Argentina > Buenos Aires > Hotels > Gran Hotel Hispano

Description
Although it may not look like much from the front entrance with its tiny lobby, taking the lift up to the 1st floor will reveal a picturesque, old-style hotel with an indoor courtyard built with Spanish mosaic tiles. Following the courtyard towards the end of the hotel you will find a charming little breakfast room. One floor above there is a lovely patio with a small sitting area. At the front end of the courtyard is another little sitting room with a fireplace and an internet terminal (although the sign says it is free for 15 minutes use, you will not want to use it longer than that because you have to stand to use it). Guests have free access to a nearby gym.

Insider Tips
As protests and parades roll down Ave. de Mayo on a regular basis you will have a VIP view if staying in one of the rooms facing the street. Either way, the foot traffic and blocked avenues can complicate getting a taxi along Ave. de Mayo on occasion.

Benefits
For those who like to be near the attractions and the shopping this is the place to be and it is the best option amongst the no frills choices along Ave de Mayo. A short walk from Plaza de Mayo and Florida Street.

Free WiFi access

Drawbacks
The smaller rooms do not have full showers, merely curtains that pull out over a designated square on the bathroom floor. However, the larger rooms have full showers with bathtub.

-As this hotel is smack dab in the center of the business and tourist district, don't expect a typical residential neighborhood.

Rooms
There are 56 rooms of varying size and feature throughout the hotel. Generally those that face the courtyard are all the same size - small. The rooms at the end of the courtyard facing the street are larger, but noisier. These rooms have full showers with bathtub. All rooms include hair dryer, cable TV, and mini-bar. Air conditioning in the building is central, which can cause a problem in such a large building during the summer time heat.

Food
Breakfast is included and is served in the breakfast room or at the tables in the courtyard.

Rates
Doubles A$130; includes taxes
