Shopping
Bariloche's main street, Av Mitre, is filled with tourist shops selling everything from leather goods to mate gourds (yerba mate is a regional tea that is good for digestion - the gourd is the receptacle). The region is also known for its smoked specialties (meats, cheeses, etc) and patés which are quite good. In keeping with the theme of a Swiss Village you will also find several chocolate shops to tempt you along the way.
Unlike Buenos Aires, shops and restaurants in Bariloche typically observe a siesta from one to four hours, where they close up between the lunch and dinner rush.
Banks are open from 8:00am - 1:00pm in the summer (October - March) and 9:00am - 2:00pm in the winter (April - September).
