La Cascada

Argentina > Bariloche > Hotels > La Cascada

Description
La Cascada gets its name from a beautiful natural waterfall on the hotel’s sprawling 3 acre property. This hotel, the former residence of a well-to-do family, was founded in 1950. All 24 rooms are decorated in a different style, so guests can chose a suite ranging from traditional country décor to slick modernly designed units with kitchenettes. The lobby features a wonderful den where you can check e-mail or read a book and the dining room is formally decorated. La Cascada also features an amoeba-shaped indoor pool, along with an immaculate sauna and exercise room, and terrace with outstanding views of the lake.

Insider Tips
Room prices increase depending on the view, so decide how much a ‘room with a view’ is worth to you.

La Cascada prides itself on excellent service for its occasionally high-profile visitors. If you stay at here you can count yourself among other notable former guests such as the King of Spain, Sarah Ferguson and Argentine ex-president, Carlos Menem.

Benefits
The grounds here are breathtaking with beautifully landscaped gardens, streams, a small private beach on the lakefront and even a natural waterfall!

The hotel concierge is happy to arrange excursions for you including scuba diving in the lake

Spa services, including massage and facial, are available on request (extra charge)

Drawbacks
Some might find the stately vibe of the hotel a bit reserved, although the staff is very professional

‘Extras’ such as Internet usage for A$6 an hour can add up, but if you’re a penny pincher you probably won’t chose to stay here

La Cascada is located a few km out of the main town, however the hotel offers a shuttle service to and from town and the airport

Rooms
The 24 rooms at La Cascada vary considerably in style. Ours was modernly and tastefully designed, had a kitchenette and a lovely bay window at which to eat. Some have a view of Lake Nahuel Huapi. All include cable TV, safety boxes and hair dryers (as well as usual toiletries).

Food
La Cascada has a cafeteria, a fine-dining restaurant with regional and international cuisine and offers room service. There is also a wine bar. A full breakfast buffet is served each morning.

Children
Children are welcome and they will probably be thrilled with the game room. Babysitting services are available.

Rates
Prices range from A$300 -$1200 pesos per night, depending on the size of the room and its view.
