Hosteria El Nire

Argentina > Bariloche > Hotels > Hosteria El Nire

Description
Hostería Ñire, established by the Golsch family in 1963 is our top choice for a small hostería in downtown Bariloche. The well-kept Alpine style house has eight rooms, and two apartments in an annex that hold up to five people each. The rooms upstairs are bright and airy and some have a view of Lake Nahuel Huapi. The staff is polite and professional. The lobby/dining area with its appealing fireplace makes a good place to read or watch TV. It could use a makeover but that’s not uncommon in Bariloche, which sometimes appears lost in a time warp.

Insider Tips
El Ñire has several promotions during the low season. For stays of a week, guests receive one night free, for stays of ten days they get two nights free. For stays of five days they offer a free tour of the Circuito Chico.

Benefits
- Homey atmosphere
- Free parking
- Quiet location near the water
- Good (steam) heating
- The owners speak excellent English, French and German.

Drawbacks
- A sometimes-blaring TV in the lobby can make conversation at breakfast difficult
- Some rooms only have showers
- Rooms tend to be on the small side
- Credit cards not accepted

Rooms
The rooms are on the upstairs are sunny and inviting, some have a view of Lake Nahuel Huapi. Some rooms are on the smallish side and most of the bathrooms only have showers, but there are nice touches like the antique telephones and deco style headboards. The annex on the back of the property has more spacious rooms for families or groups.

Food
A basic Argentine hostería breakfast of croissants and toast with jam and dulce de leche (sweet milk spread) and coffee or tea is served each morning in the cozy dining room.

Children
Children are welcome, but this may not be the best option if you have little ones in tow.

Rates
Single/Double: A$100; standard hostería breakfast and taxes included.
