Brazil has 5 distinct climates: equatorial, tropical, semi-arid, highland tropical and subtropical. While São Paulo has a relatively a mild climate with temperatures averaging 66°F (19°C). Rio de Janeiro, Recife, and Salvador on the coast have warmer climates. Southern Brazil has a subtropical climate with frosts ocurring in the winter months. The Amazon sees warm, wet and humid conditions with temperatures rarely rising above 90°F (32°C).
